How it all started:
My introduction to Ceramic
Clay Dog Pots, Claydog Pots, Clay Dogpots, However you say it…
We love clay, we love to make pots, and we love dogs…
Background
My first introduction to clay was in school in Florida back in the late 60’s. We started with pinch pots, working up to more pinch pots. Later I got a chance to do some work on a Potters Wheel.
I left Florida after High School and relocated to California in 1974 to begin my real-life education.
After working in the home improvement industry and distribution until I needed more and got my Real Estate license in 1987. Real Estate introduced me to personal computers and working with computers, I was able to advance my education and when Real Estate slowed to a crawl I was able to move into computer services and after I had enough experience was able to switch to Computer Consulting. I worked for an global consulting firm and several major system design projects I left to go it on my own. In 2003 I joined a community art center in Irvine CA. I jumped in, immersing myself in ceramics full time. Getting back to basics was challenging and refreshing and invigorating.
After a couple of years, I was able to start working shows & showing ware at several County Fair’s and Community Craft Sales in California.
After returning to Florida in 2005 and settling in I secured a spot at St. Pete Clay Co., and later took a studio space there. In 2008 we relocated the studio to a property we owned in Lutz and worked local holiday shows around the Tampa area until my studio burned down in 2013.
After losing the studio I worked on various projects. In 2017 I started working on building a new studio, which was completed the end of 2022.
Starting fresh in January 2023, working on develop and refine my glazes, get inventory build and get the Web site up so I can let others enjoy what I love to create…
It is now 2025 and we have a new Ceramics Gallery built in front to display our Handcrafted Pottery. We have weekend hours from 11:00 am till 3:00 pm and certain holidays.
Thanks for taking the time. Please check out my Pots…
